Middle Ming Dynasty Bowl

Blue and White floral / Dragon scene.

16.5 centimeters diameter, 6.5 centimeters height
Fair condition

Interior center decorated with 4 chrysanthemums and leaves on a meandering vine within a double line border. This surrounded by 4 large camellia blooms and leaves delicately connected by a very thin wandering vine. The inner rim bordered by a classic scroll.

The exterior finely decorated with a pair of three-clawed flaming dragons among stylized cloud scrolls. Though falling within the min-yao category, the detail of this piece exhibits excellent use of wash, outline, and shading techniques normally seen on Imperial ware. Slight discoloration in areas of the lip where the biscuit was exposed during firing. Very thin potting, hard porcelain, and rings like a bell when struck.
