Thickly potted with a creamy, lustrous glaze. The rim is bordered with a classic scroll. Below, at the shoulder, is a scrolling chrysanthemum vine with five large blooms. The body has an aquatic scene depicting five shrimp among water-fern, duckweed, delicate wandering eel-grass, stonewort, and other small drifting water plants. A classic scroll band at the base.

The foot is unglazed and sandy. The outer edge shows a few small areas where the biscuit was exposed during firing. A small portion of one side seems unglazed. Close examination, however, reveals it was at one time glazed, but possibly worn away from being partially exposed on the ocean floor. A small crusty build-up near the foot does indeed suggest the origin as being that of a shipwreck, but no provenance to support this claim. Nonetheless, it has all the fine qualities of late Yuan / early Ming blue and white.
