Black Gilt Decorated Jar with Cover

Qing Dynasty - Kangxi (1662 - 1722)

Six-character mark and period.

15.5 centimeters height, 13.2 centimeters diameter

Excellent Condition

Lustrous black glaze with gilt decoration. A classic scroll borders the lid with an elaborate peony at the top. The base of the jar has a border of alternating leaf and stylized ruyi heads. Directly above are the Eight Buddhist Emblem's circling the shoulder. In fine detail is a decorative band of flowers, leaves, ruyi heads, and endless knots. Imperial quality.

Note: There is a small glaze crack inside the lid (see macro). Some of the gold is worn away from age, but otherwise the condition is perfect.
